SoftPos with PIN is live and used by first merchants!

Worldline, the market leader in electronic payments in Europe, and Polish fintech SoftPos announce that first merchants in Poland have started to use the new version of their app, which allows to accept contactless transactions requiring PIN, including those above the CVM limit. It’s another milestone for the solution, which is already present in multiple European countries, including Poland and Spain.

- From the very beginning we knew, that the solution will be complete once we allow our users to accept payments requiring PIN. We are already at this point - less than a year after our first live transactions were registered in Poland, and that makes us proud. We hope that ongoing, fruitful cooperation with Worldline will help us to reach new markets and continue the contactless revolution with SoftPos. – says Grzegorz Nowakowski, SoftPos Co-founder and Vice President.

SoftPos is a mobile payment terminal in form of an Android app, which works exactly as the traditional terminals. The app allows to accept contactless payments with card or its virtual equivalents (digital wallets such as Google Pay, Apple Pay, Garmin Pay, etc.). It can serve as a standalone app or white-label solution and be installed on both commercial devices and specialistic hardware made for couriers, restaurants, ticket sellers, etc.

Companies already using the latest version of the app notice that the opportunity to accept transactions requiring PIN improves cooperation with clients, as they value the comfort of new features. They also mention growing awareness of their clients regarding new, safe payments acceptance solutions, responding to their needs.

Edison Energia – a company offering complex installation of photovoltaics and Delivery Team, Warsaw-based food delivery service are among the first users of the new version.

- We are pleased that our cooperation with SoftPos has yielded such positive results – within a very short time, the new payment solution has become popular with merchants across different sectors. Now, with the acceptance of PIN-authorized transactions available, we are taking it to a new level. This opens up new opportunities for further business development as contactless payments are becoming an option of choice for more and more customers and SoftPos proves to be the go-to option for many merchants thanks to its flexibility and comfort of use - says Artur Żymańczyk, Country Manager Poland, Worldline.

The only requirements are an Android 8.0 (or higher), internet access and NFC chip. The safety of acceptance of transactions was confirmed by various certificates of payments’ organizations, including Mastercard and VISA. Those certificates guarantee the highest security levels during each transaction processed using the solution

- Acceptance of cashless payments allows small and medium merchants to develop their businesses. It’s one of the reasons, why Mastercard is engaged in initiatives allowing to expand the acceptance network – also by supporting such innovative solutions, as SoftPos. This technology has a big chance of gaining success on our market, as Polish customers really enjoy contactless payments and are open to new innovations in commerce. – says Kamila Kaliszyk, Business Development Director in Polish branch of Mastercard Europe.

SoftPos was founded in early 2019 and has made an enormous progress since. First merchants were trained and started using the solution in July 2020 in Poland, as part of an implementation with Worldline. Nexts months brought growing interest in the solution which resulted in more ongoing implementations with Worldline. They are expected to be revealed and launched in the next months.

SoftPos has received many prestigious awards and was named Best Payment Solution during the 2020 Fintech & Insurtech Digital Congress.
